A Brief History of Letting it Rip

Something, at some time, eventually, will be the last straw that finally gets people everywhere to change their behaviour around Covid.

This is where I live, and I rarely see another person in a mask!

This is save-worthy post on Twitter. Long Covid advocate Laura Miers wrote a timeline of threads to show how intensely we're ignoring reality. I didn't link all the threads inside the threads, but I tried to link all the news outlets for the initial quotation in each sub-thread for a while until it started taking too long.

"What’s happening in China has been quietly happening in western countries since we Let It Rip in 2021. Below, you will find a thread of history we are choosing to forget.
In the US, we started off with Covid coinfections in 2021. Kids were testing positive for like 6 viruses simultaneously, and this was shocking and novel. (massive thread:)
'I was on call in the pediatric ER a couple of weeks ago, treating a child with respiratory distress, when I looked up at the census board and saw 'RSV+COVID.' This was the first time I'd seen this combination of Covid-19 and respiratory syncytial virus.' (CNN, August 2021)
June 2022: “Kids were admitted…with a startling range of 7 respiratory viruses. They had adenovirus & rhinovirus, RSV & human metapneumovirus, influenza & parainfluenza, as well as Covid — which many specialists say is to blame for the unusual surges.” (Washington Post, June 2022)
The same thing happened in 2022. With no Covid testing or data left, wastewater showed December 2022 was our 2nd largest Covid surge on record, but none of it happened on paper. (Thread)
'We're as full as we've ever been right now & most of it is respiratory disease & a lot of it is enterovirus.’ The hospital's test positivity rate for enterovirus and rhinovirus is currently above 40%—what Dr. Kline called an ‘extraordinary figure.' (Beckers Hospital Review, September 2022)
Parechovirus in 2022
'Doctors at CDC say an unusually high number of dangerous viral infections have been diagnosed among newborns across the US this year, including one ‘unusually large cluster’ of nearly two dozen cases at a single hospital in Tennessee.' (Business Insider, July 2022)
Nevada INFANTS were acquiring Candida auris in 2022. Public health is failing us, and it’s going to get so much worse.
'First superbug case cluster in kids identified at Las Vegas hospital' (Las Vegas Review-Journal, October 2022)
Tuberculosis increased 26% among American children under age 5 last year.
'The 2022 rebound in TB cases included a 26% increase in TB diagnoses in children 4 or younger.' (Washington Post, May 2023)
Record strep. American children and children in many western countries have been dying of strep like it’s the 1700s.
'The US has been experiencing a RECORD strep surge alongside an unprecedented antibiotics shortage for over a year now. SARS-CoV-2 makes us more susceptible to bacterial infections. We know this.' (NBC News)
Last year, western countries started realizing Covid may be damaging children’s immune systems. We hit the accelerator for another year anyway. (Lengthy thread)
Previous Covid infection '…could be one reason why more hospitalized school-age children are presenting with coinfections of multiple viruses at the same time.' (Business Insider, November 2022).
Enterovirus has been quietly paralyzing American children.
'She’s 5 and she’s paralyzed…She’s in full paralysis. She can’t move from the neck down. It’s in her brain. It’s in her spine. It’s on her nerves. Enterovirus has been paralyzing kids while the country looks on.' (Your Basin, September 2022)
We’ve been ignoring skyrocketing pediatric brain abscesses and mysterious brain infections. The CDC ignored it last year, claiming it was a return to pre-pandemic levels. It wasn’t. (thread)
'Disease detectives with the US CDC are investigating a cluster of rare and serious brain abscesses in kids in and around Las Vegas, Nevada, and doctors from other parts of the country say they may be seeing a rise in cases, too.' (CNN, April 2023)

Dear Friends, This isn’t normal, and it never will be.
Here’s a list of outbreaks reported in the US over the last year and a half. (And I probably missed some) This may look familiar if you remember the early days of HIV/AIDS.

A SEPTEMBER 2021 thread:
Covid will never be like the flu. 'Unlike influenza, SARS-CoV-2 uses ACE2 receptors to infiltrate cells. Similar to HIV, SARS-CoV-2 can silently spread throughout the host’s body & attack almost every organ.' (Infection Control Today, September 2021)
Lengthy thread — these stories are common now.
'Kaden Stevenson, from Michigan, began complaining of exhaustion before Christmas which his mother assumed was just a common cold… But after developing toxic shock syndrome, doctors had to amputate his legs.' (Daily Mail, March 2023).
Lengthy pediatric LongCovid thread. Studies show kids are at the same relative risk for LongCovid as adults. Disability claims tripled for UK teenagers last year. Americans can’t just hop on disability. It takes YEARS. We’re maiming kids.
'LongCovid has taken my life & smashed it to bits. It has taken every happiness & destroyed it beyond repair. It has all but killed me.” ‘I don’t remember a day without pain,’ Samir, 13, said in a voice heavy with fatigue.' (Daily Mail)
My first pediatric LongCovid thread, back when media still covered Covid critically, going into great detail about how sick kids are getting. That all ended in 2021-2022, with The Great Unmasking and Back to Normal.
'Now, 7 months on, Toby and Josh are still suffering, sleeping constantly and unable to go back to school. The boys have developed serious stutters, complained of headaches and have begun repeating words over and over again. (Daily Mail)
🥴 And here’s another lengthy thread most of you have probably seen by now. Our wounds are usually self-inflicted.
The New York Times published this article in June 2020, then we pretended it never happened. 'The emerging picture indicates that the model for HIV treatment, a cocktail of antiviral drugs, may be a good bet for those with mild illness...' (New York Times)
OOPS: 'We may have disastrously underestimated one of the most serious sequelae: infection of the brain & nervous system. And we may have missed the neurological damage done to children and young adults who seem to have recovered from COVID.' (The Tyee, July 2023)
The Usual Suspects are trotting out “immunity debt” to explain the situation in China. The US debunked immunity debt last year, at least for RSV, but everyone ignores it. The below article is from 2022. ADULTS were hospitalized with RSV at 10x the normal rate too. (Thread)
'A more logical explanation for this year’s surge in severe viral illnesses is COVID itself could be the culprit… In the US, infants not even conceived during the gap year are being hospitalized with RSV at 7x the rate seen before the pandemic.' (Calgary Herald, December 2022)
Here’s another horrifying thread. In 2021, the US learned pediatric diabetes DOUBLED since the pandemic began. The powers-that-be blamed “lockdowns & inactivity,” media ran with it, & we hit the mass infection accelerator.
'Parents of children who had Covid should be aware of the different signs and symptoms of diabetes, so they can make sure that they get the care that they need.' (Quartz, October 2022)
We’ve known so much for so long, but the public is CONSTANTLY forced to forget and made to return to Pretend Normal—which entails mass infecting & reinfecting all the children.
December 2020: “They also found that a high proportion of children with SARS-CoV-2 infection met clinical & diagnostic criteria for thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA).' (Chop Edu News)
When this started happening in 2021, it was NOT normal.
'I've been doing pediatrics for 15 years but never before have I had a patient with 5 identifiable viruses. It's going to be a bad winter (Thomas Nguyen, November 2021))
2022:
'This is a baby that had COVID twice. CDC Director, you think this is normal? (Alex Meshkin, GED, November 2022)
The US is also reporting record syphilis and congenital syphilis, so are many other western countries. We are out of drugs to treat it until the summer of 2024. (Thread)
Amid record syphilis, this summer we learned the US will run out of drugs to treat syphilis & congenital syphilis. The supply isn’t expected to recover until next summer. This isn’t common knowledge for some reason, and there’s not much current coverage. (CNN, October 2023).
Plenty of Americans are getting “pneumonia” too. Leana Wen was HOSPITALIZED with pneumonia this summer, and a few months later she still wasn’t fully recovered. Adults, kids, even celebrities are reporting mycoplasma & rare pneumonias too. Pneumonia thread:
''Teen Mom' Jenelle Evans has had esophageal spasms, four lung biopsies and “a slew of lung problems.” She had mycoplasma pneumonia over the summer. (Mirror)
“France is facing an ‘outbreak’ of pneumonia in children this fall, at levels not seen in at least 10 years. An alleged culprit has been singled out: the bacteria mycoplasma pneumoniae.” (Nicolas Berrod, November 2023)
August in China
'On August 30, a Twitter account under the name "Daxiong's Smile" posted a video stating that there has been an outbreak of "Mycoplasma pneumonia" in various locations across China since August of this year. (Spotlight on China, September 2023)
Here’s my massive US Legionnaires' disease thread I’ve been keeping since 2021. I started the thread with an article about a 32-year old American teacher who died from it that year, and the cases/outbreaks kept coming. Nothing to see here, carry on.
'Three people who stayed at the InterContinental New York Barclay tested positive for the disease in the last 12 months.' (Gothamist)
NYT has known exactly what SARS-CoV-2 does since early 2020, but they chose to sell out humanity and market The Great Unmasking, We Want Them Infected anyway."
