Would you rather get used to wearing an N95 or get used to needing help to eat or sit up? It's a choice.
From Nate Bear:
"Neuroscientists are out here telling us that SARS-CoV-2 is worse for the brain than viruses we're rightly scared of like Zika and HIV, and this information is running into a brick wall at the institutional medical, media, and political level."
The Today Show recently reported on the mystery of "an alarming number of seemingly healthy younger patients having heart attacks" somehow forgetting that they had previously reported on "the direct connections between catching Covid and the raised risk of heart attack" last year.
Is that from brain dysfunction of all involved or from politics shifting the Overton window?
One explanation for the "sudden" experience of heart attack:
"Repeated infections with Covid-19 is similar to heart disease. At first you don't notice any changes, until you have a heart attack. . . . Covid-19 has significant effects on the endothelial lining, contributing to a range of vascular complications."
It's entirely possible Covid will never leave. Because of that, some insist adapting to it means ignoring it completely. It's just part of our lives now. We're going to die anyway!
But the other option is to LIVE with it by always throwing on an N95 or better when out to the shops or going to work - at least until our stores and workplaces improve ventilation to be close to 500ppm of CO2 and add in upper air UV to help kill any viruses in the room. We have to remember that a good half of transmission comes from people who feel perfectly healthy -- and that person unwittingly spreading it could be you.
After a paper came out proving irrefutably that masks are harmless and dramatically reduce the risk of viral transmission, some yahoo went on Twitter to say that masks only work if you wear them and can't possibly be worn all day at work. Of course a plethora of people posted pictures of themselves at work wearing a mask all day or showing off their mask dents at the end of a day's work, some scoffing at the weenie complaining about the inconvenience of wearing N95s because they work in situations requiring full on hazmat protection for their entire 8-12 hour shift. I wore a mask when I was teaching, from 7:30-3:30 every day, all day, and my mask was the least of my concerns!
You can get used to anything. I started with a homemade cloth mask, back when we weren't allowed to buy masks because it would take the supply from healthcare workers. I just got lucky to not get sick at that point - and I often ended up with lint in my mouth by the end of the day. I definitely had moments of claustrophobia at first, with the thick cloth right against my nose and mouth, but once we were able to buy N95s, I never looked back. Kids could hear me just fine, and they could definitely read my facial expression, and it just became a regular part of my work clothes.
And I haven't been sick in years!!This is Dr. David Putrino.
Dave helps people with Long Covid at Putrino Labs.
Dave wears an N95 even when at a podium.
Dave knows the risks of Covid and takes appropriate precautions.
Be like Dave.
