A headline in the New York Post: "Why so many people are having strokes in their 20s, 30s, and 40s: We've never had patients so young."
They report that, "Between 2020 and 2022, there was a 14.6% increase of strokes among people aged 18 to 44." Many of whom were "by all common standards, healthy." Their theories about the increase include birth control pills, stress, long working hours, physical inactivity, caffeine especially from energy drinks, and Adderall (although they add that most studies don't show a strong association between Adderall use and strokes). None of these have been shown to have increased that dramatically since 2020, but something else has. I stupidly read the comments on the article, which are all about "the jab" killing us. IT'S NOT THE VACCINE!!
There is, of course, absolutely no mention about an unmitigated brain-invasive virus doing the very type of damage researchers and doctors warned us about years ago. We knew that Covid stays in the body and forms blood clots since at least 2021, and it became widespread in 2022, which is why some wise doctors ask for a D-dimer test after a patient has problems post-Covid infection to check for clotting issues. Here are just a few:
In June 2021, four full years ago, Frontiers in Microbiology published a paper explaining the biological factors that contribute to persistent symptoms after even a mild or asymptomatic case of Covid, including clotting/coagulation issues.
"Microclots are significantly increased in Covid-19 plasma as compared to controls."
Then, in January 2022, Dr. Colin Furness went on TVO to explain that Covid is NOT like the flu:
"This is a brain-invasive virus. ... 100% of child cases, no matter how mild they are, show markers for microclotting. That can lead to loss of brain tissue."
A study in Nature in February 2022 showed that heart disease risk soars after even a mild case. In August 2022, the link between Covid and persistent clotting issues was published in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and Cardiovascular Diabetology wrote about the connection between microclots and platelet pathology and Covid, suggesting we find ways to undo the blood vessel damage:
"Removal and reversal of these underlying endotheliopathies provide an important treatment option that urgently warrants controlled clinical studies."
In September 2022, the Journal of Medical Virology published a study that found Covid increases the risk for acute myocardial infarction mortality. And Dr. Rae Duncan explained the connection between Covid and endothelial damage that could lead to a massive increase in strokes. And in October 2022, "Dr. Uppity" wrote an thread explaining it in simple terms,
"Microclots can break off and float around in the bloodstream, maybe breaking up, maybe getting caught in the tiny capillaries causing tiny areas of lost blood supply. If you've been recently vaccinated, your B cells already have some idea what Covid 'looks' like, so they'll be quick off the mark with antibodies that at least roughly 'fit' onto the virus, making it easy to mop up before too many cells get infected."
Unfortunately, in my parts, you can't be recently vaccinated for most of the year! And in some places, like the states, you can't be vaccinated at all if you're the wrong age to be protected, like young kids!
More recently, in 2024, Dr. Funmi Okunola explained,
"If we look at endothelial activation and micro-clots, SARS-CoV-2 infection can cause hypercoagulability, that is, blood to thicken and clot in blood vessels, coronavirus damage to the endothelium, increasing strokes, pulmonary embolisms and deep vein thrombosis."
The other big problem here is suggested by Professor Danny Altmann in that video:
"If you have SARS-CoV-2, even mild SARS-CoV-2, it changes your brain. It changes the way your brain MRI looks, and it makes you more stupid! Sorry to say it so bluntly. That's why I mask everywhere."
I'm not sure even the most robust public health could undo all the misinformation that's out there now. The U.S. is still dominant in the world of information dissemination, and that admin seems to be working hard to kill off the poor by cutting health care and education, and shutting down medical research while their control over social media ramps up the bullshit. The current CDC director just resigned with these words:
"My career in public health and vaccinology started with a deep-seated desire to help the most vulnerable members of our population, and that is not something I am able to continue doing in this role."
Lots of the very best in the field have been kicked out or rendered impotent, and some are coming to Canada, and I don't blame those leaving one bit. Rebecca Solnit recently explained that we can keep on fighting without necessarily staying in the line of fire.
In March of this year, the CBC posted Sonya Buyting's interview of David Putrino, who has been studying the effects of Covid for over five years. He clarifies how Covid works to silently cause long-term organ damage in the body:
"Mounting scientific evidence suggests every Covid infection a person gets increases their risk of developing long-term health issues. There is no such thing as a Covid infection without consequence. ... There was a recent 2024 study that showed us that individuals who survive an acute Covid-19 infection on average will lose somewhere in teh neighbourhood of two to six IQ points per infection. ... This is a virus that, once it enters the body, is very capable of entering the bloodstream, creating immune responses that travel all over the body. ... There are problems such as what we call 'viral persistence,' meaning the SARS-CoV-2 virus is not being effectively cleared by the body, and it's sticking around. It's hiding out in different areas of teh body in what we typically call 'immune privileged sites' ... This virus also specifically causes your immune system to become weaker. ... The spike protein itself is very damaging to blood vessel structures as well as red blood cells and platelets themselves."
So we're not entirely on our own out here. But the ratio of bullshit to scientific reporting is frightening. Meanwhile the President of the United States believes the former president is a robot. He's following the trajectory of Vonnegut's "fabulously well-to-do" car salesman, Dwayne Hoover, who believed that,
"Everybody else is a robot, a machine. Some persons seem to like you, and others seem to hate you, and you must wonder why. They are simply liking machines and hating machine,"
because he read it in a book! In the end, Hoover is sued into destitution. Here's hoping!
If you made it all the way to the end, here's a fun graphic that shows doctors fleeing the states in the midst of many other travesties of the day!
